This course is a study of the economic structure, the development experiences, and the economic policies of Singapore. The course starts with a brief introduction to Micro- and Macro-economics, emphasizing on key concepts necessary for the understanding of the functioning of an economy. The course will also cover a brief introduction to data analysis. The topics on the Singapore economy include economic structure of Singapore, economic development strategies, economic restructuring, monetary policy, fiscal policy, and economic stabilization policy. The course will also cover two socio-economic issues confronting Singapore: income inequality, and aging population.
