This course introduces the French language, culture and civilization to complete beginners. Students will learn the basics of the French language through a textbook and a work book developed specifically for the needs of NTU students. Audio and video resources are also integrated into the course to expose students to authentic language use. They will learn the most common verbs, words and sentence constructions in French. During class, they will role-play, answer simple questions orally, watch videos, read texts and dialogues, and write simple essays.

2 lessons per weekI??? Loved the energy??? Of the class??? I had Estelle Bech as my French tutor and she was very patient and humorous. In almost every class you would be greeted with a bright and cheerful ‘Bonjour’ and the content is quite easy to grasp, up until the prepositions for me. Of course, this easily translates to a pretty wrecked bell curve because most of the students would be scoring above 70%.
The tests are in a mix of MCQs and short answer questions, in which I was asked to write a paragraph entirely in French. As for the class participation, I not only had to turn up for physical classes but also complete French exercises online to revise the content that was taught in class. Overall, I really enjoyed taking this mod and it’s perhaps one of the best mods I have taken so far.
