The aim of this course is to introduce students to the concepts and technologies associated with data analytics. The course will firstly help students understand information technology infrastructure that is fundamental to data analytics. Thereafter, data analytics concepts will be explained including big data, machine learning and artificial intelligence. Techniques for conducting data analytics will also be taught. This course would be of interest to students who would like to understand what data analytics is and its applications.

Honestly worst mod in my life. Why would would CoHass make us do this?? If we wanted to do coding and big data we would be in Triple-E courses and not in Humanities. The tasks were ridiculous, every week there would be THREE quizzes. One quiz on the week’s topics, one quiz based on an actual study/paper that would usually average around TWELVE to SIXTEEN pages, filled with incomprehensible jargon and mathematic formulas that were NOT easy algebra. Then if you were lucky for the week it the third quiz would be a youtube video, if not it would be another paper study quiz. Final assessment is an EIGHT MINUTE group video. EIGHT?? The live lectures are another headache. Why cant it be pre-recorded?? I don’t understand the lecture schedules, some recorded, some live, during seemingly random weeks. Why not make it one type? I’m genuine trying my HARDEST with readings and quizzes and yet i’m just passing. If i were doing the minimum of course i wouldnt be complaingin about my grades bc well, I deserve it. But when i’m trying my best and still nearly passing, it then begs the question of the quality of the mod in relevance to our studies. Humanities but doing coding and math? for what. worst mod ever, even worse when we cant S/U this irrelevant GER-CORE.

Since this course-wide mod was conducted online (and open-book), the average for this mod was as high as 80+, which was (and still is) pretty insane. I know there were quite a lot of people who struggled with this module but I honestly found this module to be the least of my worries.
(maybe because i had some knowledge on how PC works, idk)There were no readings for this module, other than the 2 journal articles that were given before quiz 1 and 2.The concepts were relatively easy to grasp and the calculations were not that hard (legit just basic algebra; the hardest part is probably ‘find y in 2x+5=y when x=2’; not the actual question but yeah) up until the finals. Again, it was held during the busiest time of the semester so I did not have much time to revise. There were 60 short questions to answer in the span of 1hr 30mins. I didn’t do very well for the last quiz due to lack of revision. For the group project, we were allowed to choose our members, and if we couldn’t form a group of 5 in time, the prof will assign a group for us. The deliverable is an 8-10 minute video on data analytics in a certain industry.
