EE3019 INTEGRATED ELECTRONICS (3.0 AU)

This course aims to provide basic knowledge on analog and digital electronic circuits from a circuit and monolithic (integrated circuit) implementation point of view. The course includes the design of elements in bipolar- and CMOS-based op amps, feedback, power supplies, linear and non-linear applications circuits with the op amp as the basic building block, and transistor circuits for realising basic digital circuits. It will provide Year 3 electrical and electronic undergraduates with sufficient fundamental theoretical and practical knowledge to pursue advanced topics in analog and digital integrated circuits.
Contents: Feedback amplifier. Voltage reference and current sources. Operational amplifier circuits. Applications of operational amplifiers. Power supplies. CMOS logic circuits. CMOS flip-flops and memories.

This course builds upon what you learn in Analog Electronics, with a strong focus on MOSFET over BJT. It aims to enable you to analyse multi-transistor circuits quickly and goes into a wide variety of real-world applications! The Profs are passionate about the topic and share their industry experience throughout the lectures too. The class size is pretty small so I don’t think there’s a bell curve to it.
