MA2012 INTRODUCTION TO MECHATRONICS SYSTEMS DESIGN (3.0 AU)

The lecture parts of course will introduce the concept of mechatronics and the elements of mechatronics system or product. It will also dwell on the basics of motors, sensors, methods of interfacing them to an embedded processor, and the various forms of inputs and output devices that allow for human interface in addition to automation.
Tutorials are to be conducted in laboratory where students are given exercises to implement and practiced. It involves the use of bread boards for development of interfacing circuits and inputs and output devices.
Students are required to complete a group project where they are to design, fabricate and demonstrate your product to the class.
